Surf Workshop for Women
As part of The Girl and The Sea's social commitment to the community of Santa Teresa and Malpais, we are offering a free surfing workshop for women.
It consists of a free class for 8 local girls at beginner level.
For economic or social reasons, many women prefer to stay away from surfing. With this workshop, we aim to remove some of the obstacles and encourage girls to continue surfing.
It is an excellent opportunity to make new friends, relieve stress, and get in touch with nature.
Workshop location and date
The activity will take place at Santa Teresa Beach in front of the Hotel Trópico Latino on Saturday, January 24, at 9:30 a.m. In this area, the waters are shallow and the waves are gentle. It is excellent for participants who are taking their first steps in surfing.
We will be sponsored by local companies such as Piqui Goodies, Green World (organic foods), and Pura Vida Adventures.
Update: Photos and new information
Fortunately, everything went well this Saturday. We had planned the event for only 8 girls, but we had 11. In addition to my husband Davide, we had a third instructor, my nephew Kenneth, who is helping us this high season.
The classes were great. First, we did a little warm-up to loosen up our muscles. Then we moved on to the basic instructions, where everyone paid close attention, and we simulated the movements on the boards.
Then it was time to get in the water together to try out everything we had learned on land. For many, it was their first time, and they did an excellent job.
The weather and waves were perfect for the classes to flow smoothly. In the end, we could see that the girls had mastered the basics of surfing.
After being in the water for a little over an hour, we took a break under the palm trees with a delicious snack.
